Sinian 3D IP system ("Sinian System") is a 3D induced polarization (IP) detection system independently developed by Zijin Mining (Zijin Geophysical Survey) and can be widely used in the IP survey of brownfield and greenfield metal ore prospecting and exploration, in particular it can achieve great-depth IP detection in interference mines.

01 Basic Information

3D IP detection technology (Sinian System) applies high-power (up to 180 kW) transmitter and is equipped with 200 ~ 400 sets of intelligent high-precision IP receivers, with high transmitting power, high receiving accuracy, strong anti-interference ability and other advantages. It can achieve accurate detection of abnormal sources and large exploration depth, which is over 2 to 3 times the conventional IP detection depth, and the effective detection depth can reach 1,000 ~ 1,500m.

The array 3D IP acquisition system adopts 200 ~ 400 sets of distributed 3D IP receivers developed independently. Those receivers adopt distributed single- and double-channel design, with high precision, low system noise which is 20 μV when the range is 15 V and can assure the extraction of weak signals, and light weight, in PAD size, only 800 g; and can achieve multi-unit linkage, one-click operation and 28-hour continuous automatic acquisition of full-waveform time series data, without technician operation and watch-over. Independently developed data processing software allows for real-time monitoring and automatic extraction of massive data.

Sinian system can be widely used in deep mineral exploration, especially in old mines with strong human interference and in deep & marginal parts, as well as for IP intermediate gradient method with large area and large polar distance, 2D & 3D IP sounding, borehole – ground, pit – ground and other multi-mode observation.

It can be applied to grassland, forest and Gobi desert landscape areas, where the working areas should have the corresponding traffic conditions. During operation, the transmitting system is fixed, and the vehicle and generator emissions meet the national standards, with low environmental disturbance.

Remarkable Achievements in Porphyry & VMS Type and Other Metal Deposits closely related to Sulfide Breakthrough in Deep Exploration of Gold Deposits of Structurally-altered Rock Type with Low Sulfide Content

The Sinian system has been used in more than 12 mines inside and outside Zijin Mining Group, such as Tongshan copper mine, Yixingzhai gold mine, Ashele copper-zinc mine, Peki copper mine, Tengjia gold mine, Xiaonangou gold mine and Zhongtiaoshan gold mine etc., with remarkable achievements.
1. For porphyry, VMS and other metal deposits closely related to sulfide, carry out 3D IP exploration, obtain clear 3D resistivity and polarizability models, correspond to the spatial positions of geological structure framework and mineralization alteration zone, and keep consistent with drilling verification results, with effective exploration depths of 1,000 ~ 1,500 meters.
2. For a number of brownfield and greenfield projects, carry out high-power large-polar distance IP gradient survey. Compared with conventional IP gradient survey, significantly improve operation efficiency and application effects. The spatial positions of high-polarization, medium-low resistivity anomaly zones and structural mineralization and alteration zones are consistent.
3. In the strong interference environment of production mines, carry out 2D IP sounding, with the effective exploration depth over 800 meters. The spatial positions of inverse high-polarization, medium-low resistivity anomalous bodies are corresponding to those of metallogenic geologic bodies. The geological – geophysical prospecting prediction model established can direct the new prospecting discoveries in those zones at high working level.
4. Based on the advantages of high-power and high-voltage emission and continuous full waveform time domain acquisition of the Sinian system, solve the problem that exploration depth of IP method is restricted by electromagnetic coupling in the coverage area, and provide technical support for a new round of prospecting breakthrough to expand the exploration space in the coverage area.
